Celebrating our 65th Annual Ski Show Event this summer!
The Lake McQueeney Ski Bees is a group of water-skiers ranging from the very young to the seasoned water skier. Our primary purpose is putting on a water ski show every Thursday night during the Summer months. Our acts range from Junior Flag Line, Ballet, Barefooting, Wakeboarding, Swivel Skiing, Ski Jumping, Trick Skiing, and Human Pyramids. Throughout the years, the Ski Bees have turned out regional and national water-ski champions, as well as three world champions. And today, after 60 years, The Ski Bees are still going strong! Last year we had several members compete in regional and national tournaments.
Founded in 1952 by “Buzz” Mueller, Betty Mueller and Bob Spalten, Sr., the Ski Bees originated as a club for people who wanted to ski in competitions. “Buzz” Mueller’s brother, Joe, won World Champion for jumping 137 feet at Cypress Gardens, Florida in 1957. The ski show began as The Buzz Mueller Ski Show, and consisted of skiers performing tricks and jumps, and there were clown and ballerina acts. The ballerina act included a line of girls who skied in tutus and did impressive tricks as they passed in front of the cheering crowd watching from the banks. Even now, these many years later, these acts are still part of each show. Over the years, The Buzz Mueller Ski Show and the club merged to simply become what is known today as The Lake McQueeney Ski Bees.
The Lake McQueeney Ski Bees welcomes skiers of all ages and abilities. We are an independent organization whose goals are: :
- To promote the sport of water skiing on Lake McQueeney, including three event and show skiing.
- To put on an entertaining weekly summer ski show.
The shows are held at a private club on the beautiful shores of Lake McQueeney, located between New Braunfels and Seguin, Texas.
We provide a friendly environment to meet people, learn how to both Show and Tournament ski, and (most importantly) to have fun on the lake!
